FAQ

Q.   Why should I have my property, driveways, footpaths etc. washed professionally?
A.  There are many benefits to having a professional exterior cleaning done, it’s the best way to keep your most valuable assets maintained and looking the way you want them to look. Exterior cleaning removes damaging moss, mould and algae, it extends the life of the paintwork on your house,  pre-colored render is  rejuvenated and  paths, driveways become safe and welcoming. Our professional team, equipment, products and experience, means that your property will be cleaned properly and promptly.  We differentiate ourselves from others by the  way we carry out the services we offer, we want you to become a long time client, recommending us to your friends and family!

Q.  Can I have my roof cleaned by power washing?
A.
It our opinion that you should not have your roof power washed, power washing a roof means a fast and hopefully even clean, but its the long term problems that can be the problem, roof tile manufactures and slate companies, often say that their products have a life of at least 25 years, but high pressure water is like multiple hurricanes, with water travelling at very high speeds, its said that its the equivalent of 15 to 20 years weathering in one go..
The British NFRC (National Federation of Roofing Contractors) issued a statement some years ago saying  " Most ‘techniques’ that we have come across to remove moss, are often achieved by ‘violent’ means such as power-washing, which may cause damage to the roof, especially when combined with unnecessary foot traffic often leading to cracked or broken roof tiles." And  Marley, a huge tile manufacturer issued a statement which said " The use of high powered jet washes is not recommended as it can damage the surface of the slate or tile, thus reducing its expected life considerably"
A British council, also issued a statement as follows," Roofing experts warn that roof tiles should not be subjected to high-pressure washing or jet washing for many reasons which include:
Removal of Lichen and moss by jet washing will invariably remove the granular surface finish and potentially damage the structural integrity of the tile, this process followed by a surface treatment application would invariably invalidate any tile manufacturer’s guarantee.
Interlocking roof tiles are not designed to be walked upon, foot traffic can cause these interlocks to break opening the roof up to water
ingress.
Inappropriate pressure washing can potentially force water up between the tiles and roofing felt into the roof space. Bedded mortar and flashing's can also be blasted off using this method, potentially leading to further costs for rectification.
Therefore we can only recommend soft swashing for the cleaning of roofs.

A.  Ideally we would like to see the property, to assess what needs to be done and to explain what we can do and how we would do it, however sometimes if we have done a similar property, or we can assess it from still images, whatsapped or emailed images are fine, we can estimate without visiting.  Should we arrive and the onsite price is in the range of the offsite estimate, we can simply start the job! If we arrive onsite and there are unforeseen problems or costs we will speak to you in person or telephone you directly for approval before any work is undertaken.

A.  Yes, we do clean off graffiti, so don't let it affect your home or business.

A. No, Because all our services are external, there is no need for you to be home.  We do take photographs before and after, which are available if required.  However, we need you to make sure your house and outdoor areas are accessible and adequately prepared for washing, depending on the cleaning we are undertaking that a water supply is available and you need to be contactable by telephone.

A. Preparing your house or property for washing is not a massive undertaking. We simply need you to close all your doors and windows.  Ideally movable items (ie; clothes on clotheslines etc.) should be moved away from the area to be to be cleaned .
